Irimi is an idea from Aikido that stuck with me. It’s nothing I am inherently good at, but a skill I strive to improve in everyday live. You can probably tell that because I made this word part of my creative/hobbyist identity.
Also irimi techniques in Aikido are very fun. It’s far from easy to do, but it’s the part where attacking and defending kind of blurs, and the defender might gain the ability to dictate the direction or intensity of the opponent’s attack.
Anyways, since I made this part of my identity, I tried to express it in various ways in order to get a logo or avatar that I’m happy with. These are collected here.
This is the version I am most happy with for now and use everywhere I use the username irimi1. I made it in dotgrid, a minimalist vector tool.
This is an experiment using multiple triangles inverting each other’s color. Created using Inkscape.
